International Summer Programme: Learning Through Chemistry 2024   usm w

 WHY US?

This program gives the participants the chance to know the culture of Malaysia closer. In addition, this program also provides opportunities to all staff in the School of Chemical Sciences to interact with the international student in the “kenduri@Kimia” event in which they will prepare and grill satay, “bubur lambuk”, ais kacang, roti jala, mee goreng and varieties of traditional foods in Malaysia with the ‘gotong- royong’ spirit. Several outdoor activities were also demonstrated such as making ‘roti canai, karipap and teh tarik sessions, pottery as well as Malaysian traditions. Students will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Georgetown and experience the local cultures around Penang.

There will be six non-credited courses designed together with practical classes by academic staff including Microscale Chemistry, Glass Blowing Technique, and Malaysia Cultural activities. Students will be based at Universiti Sains Malaysia’s main campus in Penang Island. These programs will combine both features of learning classes and hands-on in laboratories. Classes and discussions will take place in formal and informal settings.
